All-Star Scholarships awarded

LAPLACE — Todd P. Trosclair, CEO of All Star Electric, recently announced the two winners of the All-Star Foundation Scholarships following a school Mass at St. Charles Catholic High School during Catholic Schools Week.
Junior Grace Richoux and senior Wesley Melancon were each awarded $1,000 towards their SCC tuition. Both student-athletes maintain a 4.0 GPA and are involved in school and community service activities.
Richoux has lettered in swimming and track. She is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Art Club and Science Club. She also volunteers with Special Olympics and through her church parish.
Melancon has lettered in football, baseball and swimming. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Fellowship’s Christian Athletes Leadership Team and the school’s Retreat Team. He is an All-State Academic Composite Team member and was recognized as a Chevron Scholar Athlete of the Week.
He also attended the recent March for Life in Washington, D.C. and plans to attend LSU and major in chemical engineering in the fall.
A committee was formed by Trosclair to judge the anonymous applications submitted by students. The criteria used in awarding the scholarship focuses on the demonstration of the student’s development of the mind, body and spirit.
Principal Cupit thanked Trosclair for his involvement and support of St. Charles Catholic High School.
