Carl James Bertrand, 78, a resident of LaPlace, died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at 10:22 p.m.

He was born in Lake Arthur, La., to the late Lenis and Ophelia Bertrand.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Bonnie McGee Bertrand; three daughters, Denise (Dennis) Borne, Carla Bertrand, Gail (Craig) Dawson; six grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Jaclyn, Hunter, Peyton and preceded in death by his grandson James Dawson.
He also had six great grandchildren, Kamryn, Madelyn, Matthew, Jonah, Miley & Michael (and Tucker)
He is survived by his brother, Walter Jim Bertrand and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Sullivan.
He was involved for 42 years in the Knights of Columbus, retired from the State DOTD and worked as a consultant for several construction companies.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at St. Joan of Arc Church, with services following.
