GARYVILLE — A woman police said routinely transported drugs from Texas to St. John the Baptist Parish was arrested last week in Garyville.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division arrested Whitnee Chatman, 30, of Houston and Antoine Borden, 30, of New Orleans Dec. 17 for narcotics and firearms violations during a traffic stop of Chatman’s vehicle, a Sheriff’ Office press release said.

Detectives arrested Borden and Chatman in the 4600 block of Airline Highway in Garyville.

“During the course of the investigation, detectives received information that Chatman was regularly traveling from Texas to Reserve to transport and sell narcotics,” a release said.

Authorities said they discovered approximately 2,000 doses of Xanax, 300 doses of MDMA (commonly known as Ecstasy), two pounds of synthetic marijuana, one handgun, a small amount of marijuana and two bottles of promethazine during the traffic stop.

Police said the vehicle’s passenger was Borden. Also in the vehicle was Chatman’s 10-year-old son, who was turned over to family members.

Chatman was released from custody Tuesday after posting a $101,669.50 bond.

She is facing charges of possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana, possession with intent to distribute MDMA, contempt of court, illegal use of controlled drug in presence of persons under 17 years old, possession of hydrocodone, illegal carrying of weapon with controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited; and possession with intent to distribute Xanax.

Borden is being held in lieu of a $101,669.50 bond and faces charges of distribution of drug paraphernalia, possession of hydrocodone, illegal use of controlled drug in presence of persons under 17 years old, illegal carrying of weapon with controlled dangerous substance, and sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited, possession with intent to distribute Xanax, possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana and possession with intent to distribute MDMA; and contempt of court.
