GOING ONCE: St. John surplus auction set for Dec. 10

LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Council will publicly auction surplus vehicles, heavy equipment, office furniture and other miscellaneous items at 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at 425 Captain Bourgeois St. in LaPlace.

Prospective participants may inspect items to be sold at the address listed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 and from 8 to 10 a.m. Dec. 10.

All items are being sold as-is and where-is, and no warranty is given as to the usefulness or merchantability of any item sold.

There will be no refunds.

Those buying auction items must present cash, a cashier’s check, personal or company checks with a bank letter of guarantee.

A professional auctioneer will conduct the auction. The buyer must remove purchased items from the auction site by Dec. 27.

State law prohibits parish employees and members of employees’ immediate families from buying items at parish surplus auctions.

This includes employees’ spouses, employees’ spouse’s parents, employees’ children and their spouses, employees’ brothers and sisters and their spouses, and employees’ parents and their spouses.
