The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District canceled school Wednesday.

School District Communications Specialist Jennifer Boquet said the decision was made due to the tornado watch in the area and the risk of severe weather during travel time this morning.

School will resume Thursday.

Due to its policy of closing when the public school district does, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School announced it is also closing Wednesday.

Other schools that have canceled Wednesday include Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School, St. Peter Catholic School and St. Charles Catholic High School.

Riverside Academy announced school will go on Wednesday.
