News in brief: Drop off Toys for Tots in LaPlace

The Wireless Zone in LaPlace is partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign to collect new toys for less fortunate children in the area during Christmas.

The location at 901 W. Airline Highway will have a box in the shop through the end of the season.

The mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during and distribute them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate local children.

Court budget open for review

EDGARD — A public hearing will be held by the 40th Judicial District Court at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Courtroom C of the 40th Judicial District Court, 2393 Highway 18 in Edgard to review the proposed budget for the 40th Judicial District Court for the fiscal year 2017.

All St. John the Baptist Parish residents are invited to attend and present questions or comments concerning the proposed budget.

Copies of the entire proposed budget can be obtained after Dec. 5 in the Chambers of Judge J. Sterling Snowdy, located in the 40th Judicial District Court, 2393 Highway 18 in Edgard between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Animal Shelter offers Santa pics

LULING — The St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter is hosting a Holiday Celebration that will feature pet photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at 921 Rue La Cannes in Luling.

The St. Charles Humane Society and the Animal Control Office have partnered with senior Kylie Roux as part of her project to present the event, which features food, music, raffles, pet adoptions, Christmas gifts, crafts, pet treats, supplies and more.

Pet parents are welcome to bring their leashed and vaccinated pets to take portraits with Santa from noon until 4 p.m.
