The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club recently chose SCC Senior Kayla Johnson as the female recipient of the Chevron Scholar Athlete of the Week award.

Johnson was recognized at their weekly luncheon at the The Cannery in New Orleans. Her family, along with St. Charles Catholic High School coach Courtland Taylor attended the luncheon.

Johnson will also be recognized on the field during the 2016 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in the Superdome on Dec. 17 and at a Pelicans basketball game where there will be a drawing for one male and one female to receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Besides maintaining a 3.96 GPA, Johnson is a member of the basketball team, track team, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Creative Writing Club and the SCC Stagehands.
