NORCO — A corner’s ruling determined the identity of a body found Sunday is that of Larrielle Ross, a Mississippi woman reported missing last week.
Authorities said a cause of death will be determined following a complete autopsy, which could take weeks.
Ross’ body was discovered Sunday, when the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified by Magnolia Fleet employees they were on a barge at Mile Post 122 in the Mississippi River and located the body floating in the water at approximately 6:57 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Office announced last week the public’s help was needed in locating Ross, who was reported missing Wednesday.
Ross worked for the Army Corps of Engineers MSU, which had a boat docked in Norco at Shell Motiva. Ross was last seen on the boat at approximately 2:30 p.m. Nov. 1.
Ross, 20, lived in Vicksburg, Miss.
She was last seen wearing a MSU Uniform shirt and Army Corps of Engineers hat.
Ross did not badge out via the security office, authorities said, which is the only way on and off the boat as per protocol. All of her personal belongings were found on the boat, including her cell phone, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Anyone with any information on Ross’ death is asked to contact Detective Jennifer James at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
