LAPLACE — Christopher Bergeron was recently named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Bergeron is a senior at St. Charles Catholic High School.
Principal Drew Cupit presented a Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, to Bergeron after a recent schoolwide Mass.
Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by the taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, SCC officials said.
Letters of Commendation are awarded to students in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. School leaders said the recognition broadens Bergeron’s educational opportunities and encourages him as he continues to pursue academic success.
