HAHNVILLE — Carla Chiasson has been hired as the Grants Officer for St. Charles Parish Government.
“Carla is another example of a parish employee who has put in years of hard work and has risen through the ranks as a result,” Parish President Larry Cochran said. “She is an individual who will be driven to seek new grants, is knowledgeable about the way to procure them and is highly organized to ensure they’re managed correctly.”
Chiasson will lead a staff of two employees on the third floor of the St. Charles Parish Courthouse in Hahnville.
The Grants Office is responsible for pursuing grant funding, as well as managing existing grant agreements for projects and programs for St. Charles Parish.
This involves researching all leads on funding for feasibility and applying for and securing grants to help fund parish projects and programs.
The office also manages existing grant agreements to ensure that the parish adheres to the terms of the grant agreements by monitoring the status of the project or program, works closely with department personnel involved with the project or program, completes status reports, submits requests for reimbursement and reports necessary to close out the grant following the completion of a project or program.
Chiasson has worked for the Grants Office since 2009, where she was first employed as a Grants Specialist I before ascending to a Grants Specialist II and ultimately a Grants Specialist III.
She has been serving as the interim Grants Officer since June.
Chiasson holds both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.
