LaPlace Elementary School students recently contributed supplies to the local animal shelter as part of their lesson about being responsible at home and at school.
Students were asked to provide examples of how they are responsible, and counselor Mechelle Terrio also addressed how to be a responsible pet owner.
“I chose to include this topic because almost all the students in every grade own some sort of pet,” she said.
“Therefore, teaching our students how to be responsible pet owners was very important to me. We discussed providing food, good hygiene, shelter and love to all living things.”
