St. Mark hosts family, friends
MOUNT AIRY — Sgt. Denise Bertrand, Deputy Darlinta Garrison and Lt. Freddie Young were excited to visit with children during Family and Friends Day recently at St. Mark Baptist Church in Mount Airy.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s officers gave out junior deputy badge stickers and tattoos, personal safety coloring books and blue wristbands.
Parents also could pick up child fingerprinting kits that allows them to fingerprint a child at home and keep the prints in a safe place.
If a child disappears at any age, and he or she cannot tell anyone his or her name or address, fingerprints can provide conclusive identification even years later.
The officers enjoyed spending the early afternoon with the St. Mark Baptist Church congregation.
