LAPLACE — Fall has arrived in the River Parishes. That means it’s time for cooler temperatures and the search for the perfect pumpkin.
Local residents can do that at First United Methodist Church of LaPlace, located at 301 Bamboo Road, off of U.S. 51.
The pumpkin patch is open every Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for browsing, buying and picture-taking. There also will be hayrides and face painting available for visitors.
The church also can make its pumpkin patch mobile, and plans to bring smaller pumpkins to several schools in the area.
Already on the schedule are visits to John L. Ory Magnet and Emily C. Watkins Elementary.
“We decided to take it to the schools because they don’t get to go on field trips any more,” said Pastor Regina Hickman. “We bring it to them.”
Schools may call the church office at 985-652-6560 to schedule a visit. There is a small fee.
