LAPLACE — Authorities are searching for answers in the shooting death of a woman Friday night in LaPlace.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said deputies and emergency medical services responded to an apartment in the 300 block of East Airline Highway in LaPlace at 9 p.m. Friday to find a female shot.

Tregre said the victim, identified as a 46-year-old woman, had an apparent gunshot wound to her left arm and was pronounced dead on the scene.

This investigation is active, authorities said.
