RESERVE — St. John the Baptist Parish officers, along with St. John Parish firefighters, attended a ceremony honoring first responders Friday at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve.

Residents and staff recognized officers, firefighters, Sheriff Mike Tregre, Parish President Natalie Robottom and other emergency services personnel for their dedication and service to the residents of St. John Parish. A special presentation also was held to pay tribute to St. John District Fire Chief Spencer Chauvin, who was killed Aug. 28.

Music, poems, and prayers highlighted the event. A delicious crawfish stew meal prepared by the Veterans Home also was enjoyed by the first responders.
