BORN TO RUN: Youth races start Sept. 18

LULING — The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Healthy Kids Running to host a running series at the West Bank Bridge Park, 13825 River Road in Luling, beginning on Sept. 18.

Runners will compete based on age from prekindergarten to eighth grade for appropriate running events.

The events include runs of 50 yards, quarter mile, half mile and a mile. Runners will compete each week of the series for a chance to earn points.

All runners will receive a medal; however, a boy runner and a girl runner with the most points in their respective age division will receive a trophy at the end of the series.

The series registration of $35 includes all five races (one race each week), a high quality polyester HKRS T-shirt, race bibs for each race, safety pins and a race bag.

Single Race competitors are welcomed for a registration fee of $10. They will receive a race bag and number for the day they choose to participate. Online registration is preferred. The race dates are Sept. 18, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23.
