LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish Government leaders announced Thursday that firefighter Nick Saale has been released from University Hospital in New Orleans.

Saale was critically injured in an Aug. 28 Interstate 10 wreck that also resulted in the death of firefighter Spencer Chauvin.

Saale is working toward recovery and making progress each day, St. John officials said.

Firefighter Mack Beale sustained minor injuries during the wreck to his shoulder and leg is also home and recovering.

There is a fund set up at Capital One in District Chief Chauvin’s name for those who still wish to help his family. Those interested can visit any branch to donate.

Funds for the other two injured firefighters are still being set up at local banks; however, at this time GoFundMe Accounts have been established.
