LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School leaders announced the school is the proud recipient of the ECOLAB/NALCO’s 2016 Visions for Learning Grant.

The partnership encourages and rewards creativity and innovation in the classroom by providing materials and resources to enhance science classes at SCC.

This is the fourth consecutive year St. Charles Catholic High School has been awarded the Visions for Learning Grant.

School leaders said the 2016 project supports inquiry-based lab experiences in physics, biology and chemistry courses. Students will be engaged in data collection, analysis and interpretation.

The aim is to help students develop deep, critical and quantitative thinking while increasing their Science ACT score.

More than 300 students and four science teachers will benefit from the proposed GO DATA! project by providing them with an easy and powerful solution for capturing data in real time.

Science lab experiments, when combined with LabQuest technology, build interest in science, making experiments come alive as well as increasing understanding of complex science concepts. The GO DATA! project enables students to access complex and interesting science.

All SCC students use iPads in the classroom. This added technology enhancement provides a sensor solution to use with iPads to collect data during science experiments.

The experiments to be conducted are aligned to state and national standards.

“We are very thankful to the ECOLAB Foundation and Mr. Rafael Pons of Nalco Champion, an ECOLAB company for their support of science education in the River Parish area,” said Dr. Courtney Millet, director of instruction and institutional advancement at St. Charles Catholic High School.
