Spencer is the beloved husband of 10 years and best friend of Jennifer Guidry Chauvin; loving and devoted father of Jude Lewis Chauvin and Jade Michel Chauvin. He is the eldest, loving son of Ivy “Sonny” Chauvin Jr. and Donna T. Chauvin and brother of Jeremy J. Chauvin and wife, Nicole, Brittany C. Borne and husband, Michael, and Lance J. Chauvin.

He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Spencer began working with the St. John the Baptist Parish Westside Volunteer Fire Department when he was a teenager. His father and grandfather were volunteer firefighters and he joined because he felt the need to help people.
He trained and became an EMT and worked for Acadian Ambulance service for a few years before going back to college to get his Associate of Fire Science degree.
He became a paid firefighter and has worked there and rose to District Fire Chief for the past 12 years.
He was a young man of immense integrity and honor and dedicated to saving lives and helping all in need. Spencer will be deeply and sadly missed by all.
Visitation will be held in Spencer’s honor at the St. John Civic Center, 2900 U.S. .51 in LaPlace on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
