LAPLACE — Due to the recent flooding, the St. John Girl Scout Registration event was moved to September. Girl Scouts in St. John Parish are holding a registration and recruitment event from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at the St. Joan of Arc School Cafeteria, 412 Fir St., LaPlace. SPILLWAY ROAD CLOSED THURS.

NORCO — Bonnet Carre’ Spillway Road, from Norco to Montz, will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Thursday to 7:30 a.m. Friday while the St. Charles Parish Department of Public Works makes repairs to the road.

UNITED WAY GOLF TOURNEY TUESDAY

LAPLACE — Due to the recent flooding, the 18th Annual St. John United Way Golf Classic will now be held Aug. 30 at Riverlands Golf and Country Club, 500 Fairway Blvd. in LaPlace.

All industry and business leaders have a chance to make a difference and help those who are less fortunate while receiving valuable networking in return.

Organizers invite community members to come out and enjoy a great day of fun including golf, food, drinks and the fellowship of other caretakers in the community.

Hole sponsorships are available for $150, organizers said.

Lunch can be enjoyed between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. under the main tent near the Clubhouse.
