River Region Ballet’s Nutcracker auditions open to River Region

NORCO — The River Region Ballet will once again perform the full-length ballet The Nutcracker.
The ballet, with music by P.I. Tchaikovsky, performances will be at Destrehan High School Auditorium Dec. 2-4.
Auditions for this year’s Nutcracker will be held Aug. 27 at the River Region Performing Arts & Cultural Center, 15146 River Road in Norco.
Boys 5-11 audition from 10 to 10:30 a.m., boys 12 and older audition 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Girls 5–8 audition from 11 a.m. to noon, girls 9–12 years audition from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Dancers 13 and older audition from 2 to 4 p.m.
Men and women interested in theatrical roles can come between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
If dancers are auditioning on pointe, they should bring their pointe shoes to auditions.
There is a $15.00 audition fee.
All dancers must sign-in one half hour prior to audition time. Audition forms must be completed and signed by a responsible adult. Late arrivals will not be permitted to audition.
Organizers said there are many skills that will be learned or enhanced as a result of participating in this cast.
While much of the focus is on the dance skills, there are equally valuable lessons inherent in the art form that will prove useful far beyond any ballet production or the arts as a whole.
