RESERVE — The public is invited to join the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District to discuss a new initiative that will invite members of the community into its schools.
“Many changes have occurred in recent years, and it is important that the public understand the work that has taken place to become a B ranked school system,” a release from the School District said. “It is hoped that these visits will allow all stakeholders to experience the culture and climate of the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District.”
Beginning in September, the district will conduct a Patron Tour of a different school each month.
Organizers want to give community realtors, brokers, business and elected leaders, community members and others the opportunity to visit with the administration of each school and tour each campus to get a first-hand look at what education looks like today in St. John public schools.
An organizational meeting for the Patron Tours starts at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at South Central Louisiana Technical College in Reserve to discuss the initiative and learn more about what the public would like to see during these visits.
Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP to Stacey Waller at swaller@stjohn.k12.la.us.
