CONVENT — Motiva’s Convent Refinery experienced a fire involving one of its units today at approximately 10:50 a.m., St. James Parish officials said.

Motiva initiated its emergency response plan and has deployed personnel to respond to the incident.

Air monitoring is underway to confirm there is no community impact.

Officials with St. James Parish Government and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office are on the scene to assist Motiva as needed.

Louisiana 70 is closed between Louisiana 3125 and Louisiana 22 until further notice.
