- Aug. 2, 1995: Jodi Lynn Becnel of Reserve, seated, was selected queen of the Catfish Festival and reigned over that St. Charles Parish celebration. Members of her court were, from left, Melinda Bernard,
4th runner-up; Charmaine Cortez, 1st runner-up and Ms. Congeniality;
Dawn Herrin, 2nd runner-up;
Stacylynn Savoie, 3rd runner-up. Becnel, the daughter of Robert and Betty Becnel, also competed at the Fairs & Festivals Queens of Queens Pageant in Lafayette.
Aug. 3, 1989: Several St. John the Baptist Parish Junior Deputies took a field trip to
Rivertown USA in Kenner to participate in activities and community service projects.
The organization was coordinated by Deputy Greg “Za” Maurin.
Aug. 3, 1972: Miss Deborah Duhe’s reign as St. John the Baptist Parish Sugar Queen
ended Aug. 7, when she crowned the new parish sugar queen
selected at the 22nd annual sugar cane festival in Reserve. The event was held at St. Peter School.
