RESERVE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is seeking students between 16 and 21 who are no longer enrolled in school in the parish for a new e-Learning Academy.

This includes students who have dropped out of the system or who have chosen to be home schooled.

There is no cost to enroll in the academy.

The e-Learning Academy provides a one-to-one student-to-teacher ratio with more than 2,500 online master’s plus instructors.

All instructors are Louisiana-certified.

Courses and live instructional support will be available 24 hours a day.

The academy will also provide computers to students who do not have access to them.

Students will dictate how many classes they take based on performance.

“Students can easily earn 10 to 12 credits per year, because it is one-to-one education, and we are precise on the amount of remediation needed to move them forward,” Assistant Superintendent Quentina Timoll said.

“We also provide the social and emotional assistance needed to succeed. Each student will have a mentor and interventionist.”

Ellen Grant is serving as the district liaison and program contact. She can be reached at sjbpelacademy@stjohn.k12.la.us.

More information is also available at www.stjohn.k12.la.us under the Child Welfare and Attendance Department.
