LAPLACE — Three women were shot in LaPlace late Saturday night at a private graduation party, police said.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at 11:32 p.m. to the LaPlace VFW Hall in the 200 block of West Fifth Street after it was reported multiple victims were shot.

The three victims — all females, ages 22, 21, and 15 — were hospitalized, with authorities reporting Sunday two were in guarded condition after surgery and the third victim held for medical observation.

At the time of the shooting, a private graduation party was being held at the LaPlace VFW Hall, authorities said.

No one was initially arrested, and Sheriff Mike Tregre said detectives continue to follow leads.
