LULING — St. Charles Parish honored 90 employees for attendance and service during its 34th annual Civil Service Awards and Training Program at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center.

Randy Breaux Jr, a wastewater technician II for the St. Charles Parish, was named outstanding employee of the year.

Breaux, of Des Allemands, is a 13-year employee of St. Charles Parish government.

He has served the entirety of his career in the Department of Wastewater where he started as a laborer before moving up to a wastewater technician I and ultimately a wastewater technician II.

St. Charles Parish Personnel Officer Sandra Zimmer said Breaux is a perfect example of someone who has worked hard to better both himself and his coworkers.

“In addition to his daily duties, Randy assists his co-workers to prepare for testing for required certification,” Zimmer said. “This is just one of the many selfless acts that I have been told about Randy and his willingness to help others.”

A committee made up of appointed and civil service employees from various departments chose Breaux from a field of nominees.

This year’s committee included Jacob Dufrene Sr., Laurie Dufrene, Holly Fonseca, Jack Landry, Nicholas Moliere, Travis Ramos and Courtney Saucier.

In addition, Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Louisiana Community Wellness Administrator Doren Harrell discussed wellness resources available to parish employees and highlighted the Blue 365 feature.
