RESERVE — St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre was sworn into office for his second term July 1 during an inauguration ceremony at East St. John High School in Reserve.
“I must say it is truly an honor to be Sheriff of St. John the Baptist Parish,” Tregre told his audience of family members, friends, law enforcement officers and government officials.
He also spoke of future projects, including acquiring a new building for the narcotics bureau and land for a West bank substation. The SJSO indoor shooting range and training facility is in its early stages of construction.
Families of officers deserve gratitude, Tregre said.
“Those of us in law enforcement truly need that family support system when we are at home, after a long day at work, and especially when the day’s work extends into the night for the sake of people we don’t even know,” he said.
Also taking the oath of office July 1 were Clerk of Court Eliana DeFrancesh and the various staff members of the Sheriff’s Office and Clerk of Court’s Office.
