RESERVE — For investigative reasons the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the location of a shooting that sent a teenager to the hospital this week with gun shot wounds.
Deputies responded at 11:30 p.m. Monday to the emergency room of St. James Parish Hospital for a gunshot victim. The victim and a friend, authorities said, drove to the hospital on their own. The victim was then taken to a New Orleans area hospital for additional treatment.
The victim, a 17-year-old male, sustained gunshot wounds to the forearm and calf. Deputies were told the victim was with his 16-year-old male friend when he was shot.
Sgt. Dane Clement said the truck belonging to the victim was found in a parking lot in Reserve.
“The case is still under investigation,” Clement said. “We aren’t releasing what parking lot the truck was found in. We don’t want to give out specifics. The truck had gunshot holes on the driver side door and blood on the driver’s seat.”
Authorities said the shooting was targeted.
No one else was injured in the shooting, Clement said, adding the cause of the shooting is also under investigation.
Authorities at this time have no suspects.
Anyone with information regarding the shootings is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. Those with information do not have to testify and may qualify for a cash reward.
