Tr’Nahja Smith, 12, has qualified for the AAU National Championships in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. She ran a personal best time of 13.21 in the 100 meters and a 28.13 in the 200 meters. The rising seventh grader at John L. Ory also is an outstanding softball player, excelling at just about every position (including running the bases), but she is taking a break from that sport this summer to concentrate on track.

Timothy Bartholomew, 11, qualified for the AAU National Championships in the Multi-Event, which includes the shot put, high jump, long jump, 80 meter hurdles and 1,500 meter run. Bartholomew took a three-year break from track before returning this summer. He attends Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School.

D’Kyri Jackson, 14, who attends John Curtis Christian School, qualified for the AAU National Championships in the long jump. Last year he broke his school record long jump with a personal best 19 feet, 5 inches. He jumped 18-5.1 last weekend competing against 15 and 16 year olds.
