Keller: Christian work has long reach, even into jail

Published 12:05 am Wednesday, June 22, 2016

The following letter is from a young man I met three years ago while he was incarcerated.

Every three months I send him a spiritual devotional titled “The Word for You Today.”

This letter is not to glorify what I do, but to encourage Christians to reach out and share the Good News of God’s Word.

“June 14, 2016,

Hello, Mr. Harold,

How are you doing? Fine, I hope. Well, I know it has been awhile since you heard from me, but, trust me, I have been reading and going to church like I should and thanking God for bringing people in my life like you.

Mr. Harold, even though it was only for a short time, but the result has been ongoing.

Those “Word for You Today” devotionals have been a blessing in itself, so thank you so much for them. Some of the other guys I give them to are very thankful as well.

My daughter had a little boy who was born premature. He is doing well, but is still a little small. My son finished high school and is about to go to college, so please keep them in your prayers.

My wife is well and is still hanging in there.

I thank God every day for having a strong, God-fearing woman on my team.

Well, it seems like I can never thank you enough for what you have done, but I know you know. So thank you again and may God keep blessing you.

Also, please keep me in your prayers and I will do the same.

My mom and sister said hello.

Your Brother in Christ,

Brian”
