LAPLACE — Repairs were recently completed to 12 parish wastewater lift stations with electrical and mechanical damage from Hurricane Isaac.
St. John the Baptist Parish officials said the works improves parishwide infrastructure.
The $2.8 million project replaced above ground pumps with submersible pumps at 12 lift stations to improve efficiency and protect them against surface fluids and weather conditions.
Electrical components were removed from underground locations and relocated to above ground locations to prevent future flooding and damage.
This project was designed by C.J. Savoie and Associates and constructed by Fleming Construction, LLC in two phases. Phase I of the project included six lift stations at a cost of $1.7 million and Phase II included the remaining six lift stations at a cost of $1.1 million
The project was primarily funded by FEMA with a 75/25 cost share with the parish’s portion funded through the 2010 Bond Issue.
