LAPLACE — Parish President Natalie Robottom and her Administrative staff including Recreation Director Kerry Watkins and Capital Projects Administrator Daron Cooper, joined David Dupre of Meyer Engineers and Jeremy Landry with LA Contracting Enterprise for a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to commemorate the completion of the Recreation Improvements Project.
The ceremony was held at the Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park near the new Splash Park.
Based on the Parks Master Plan, $2.3 million in park improvements were constructed to each park throughout the Parish.
Improvements included two spray parks, a dog park, new play sets, gazebos, fitness stations, restroom facilities, benches, concession stands, parking lot improvements and other aesthetic upgrades.
“This project enhances the overall quality of life in the Parish and I was happy to be a part of it,” Dupre said.
Landry added, “St. John has the most projects unfolding by far and President Robottom and her team should be commended for the work they are doing to improve the community.”
Park improvements were entirely funded through the 2014 bond issue.
“The Spray Parks at REGALA and Hwy 51 and are now open just in time for the hottest summer months,” said, Recreation Director Kerry Watkins.
“Birthday parties and rentals are also available by contacting the Recreation Department at 652-9569.”
