Messy house leads to LaPlace arrest

LAPLACE — An argument over a messy house led to violence as a local man strangled the mother of his child, authorities said.
A 31-year-old female victim was able to get away from her attacker, identified as 39-year-old Dwayne Kanzig, and call 911, a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded at to the residence at 8:10 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of East Frisco Drive in LaPlace.
The female victim told authorities she was temporarily living with her son’s father while her home was repaired due to damage caused by the recent tornado.
The victim said Kanzig started yelling at her about the house not being clean enough, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
“He starting hitting her and grabbed her around the neck, causing her to start choking,” Tregre said. “She managed to get away from Kanzig, exiting the residence for safety and called 911.”
The victim refused medical treatment, authorities said.
Kanzig was arrested at the residence and booked with domestic abuse battery involving strangulation. He was released Saturday after posting a $2,850 bond.
