Carter earns Doves of Peace award

LAPLACE — Brianna V. Carter, a senior at West St. John High School, received $1,000 to be used for educational purposes at a four-year university or college in the fall.
Carter, of LaPlace, was awarded the funded through the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Upsilon Mu Zeta Chapter’s Foundation Doves of Peace 2016 College Book Stipend Award. Carter will attend Southeastern Louisiana University, majoring in Forensic Science.
The College Book Stipend Award goes out each year to eligible St. Charles, St. James and St. John the Baptist parishes high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, community service and leadership.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1920. The Sorority’s principals are Scholarship, Sisterhood, Finer Womanhood and Service. Upsilon Mu Zeta Chapter was organized in St. Charles, St. John and St. James parishes in 2005.
