St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre welcomed Katelyn as Sheriff for a Day after Katelyn won the title for being the top bidder of Sheriff for a Day in the RA spring fair’s auction.

Tregre, along with several fellow officers, reported to the school first thing in the morning to deputize Katelyn before an audience of her classmates.

Escorted by a police unit, Katelyn then traveled to the St. John Sheriff’s Office, where she enjoyed getting a glimpse of life in law enforcement.

Katelyn spent time with Tregre in his personal office and touring the 911 Communications Center, the Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Headquarters and the St. John Parish Jail.

She enjoyed a Fatal Vision goggles simulation, visiting with K-9 officer Titus and riding in the Crisis Management Unit’s BearCat. Tregre also treated Katelyn to lunch.
