LAPLACE — Rachel Stewart envisions her performing arts studio as more than a location for dance classes.

“At Stewart’s School of Performing Arts, we strive to not only teach our students techniques to better their craft, we also work on their physical, mental and spiritual character to succeed in life and be the best,” Stewart said.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was recently held to commemorate the grand opening of Stewart’s School of Performing Arts, located at 538 E. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

Owned and operated by Stewart, the performing arts school offers co-ed instruction in hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, jazz, musical theatre, aerobics and Zumba. Mental health and healing/wellness classes will also be offered in the upcoming months.

Studio hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom, her administrative staff and Councilman Larry Sorapuru attended the ribbon cutting.

Stewart has more than 20 years of experience in performing arts and dance. Call 504-320-9904 or search Stewart’s School of Performing Arts on Facebook to learn more.
