RESERVE – A LaPlace man was killed Friday after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a vehicle in Reserve.

The crash claimed the life of 51-year-old Johnnie Lee Lipscomb of LaPlace.

Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated the fatal crash involving shorty before 4 p.m. on Louisiana 44 at West 2nd Street.

Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed Lipscomb was driving a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle east on Louisiana 44 and, for unknown reasons, lost control in a curve and crossed the center line. The Suzuki then struck a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Christina Lecompte of Vacherie.

Lipscomb was ejected from the Suzuki and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Impairment is unknown for Lipscomb and a toxicology test will be performed after an autopsy.

Lecompte submitted to a breath test and no detectable alcohol was found.

Lipscomb was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
