LAPLACE — Representatives from various St. John the Baptist Parish homeowner associations met with Sheriff Tregre and representatives of the Sheriff’s Office last week in an outreach effort designed to stress the importance of communication in order to make the community a better and safer place to live.
Michael Madere, representing Old 51 Civic Association, said Tregre and his staff did a great job, adding the program was interesting and informative.
“I was impressed with everything,” Madere said.
Tregre said he wants community members to tell him what’s going on locally — the good and bad in all neighborhoods.
“You are the eyes and ears of the community,” he said. “Our common goal is to make St. John Parish a better place. Working together, we will accomplish this goal.”
Tregre also led his first public tour of the renovated Patrol Headquarters, where upgrades continue. Community members walked through the upgraded office and fleet complex and the new Lanard Robinet Multi-Purpose Room. They also visited the Crime Scene Investigations Division, where renovations were just completed.
