EDGARD — The Fortieth Judicial District Court will host its annual Law Day Celebration at 10 a.m. Friday at the courthouse in Edgard for West St. John Elementary fifth, sixth and seventh graders.
The 2016 Law Day theme, “Voting Matters,” provides an outstanding opportunity for the youth of St. John the Baptist Parish to explore and honor the nation’s voting practices.
Our unique program will showcase a mock election for the West St. John Elementary students.
At Law Day, students will elect the 2016 Law Day President for St. John the Baptist Parish. This fictitious public office is a representation of the importance of elections in the community and a reminder that every vote matters.
Each May, the Fortieth Judicial District Court observes Law Day to commemorate the rule of law, the judiciary and its place in American society.
