RESERVE — A local man is facing numerous charges after police said he attempted to avoid arrest after being linked to theft and breaking and entering cases.
Ronnie Gregoire Jr., 23, of Reserve was arrested Wednesday in the 1400 block of Belle Alliance Drive and booked him with resisting an officer, attempted theft, criminal mischief, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and contempt of court.
He remains in custody in lieu of a $2,650 bond.
St. John the Baptist Parish deputies were dispatched to the 1700 block of Ridgefield Drive in LaPlace at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday after a complainant witnessed a male subject walking in and out of yards along the street.
St. John Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Angel Thompson said the complainant saw the subject remove the package from the doorstep.
When the complainant confronted the subject, he returned the package to the doorstep then fled.
When responding deputies arrived in the area, Thompson said, they saw a subject fleeing on foot that matched the description of the suspect.
Deputies detained the subject for further investigation and identified him as Gregoire, Thompson said, adding deputies were also dispatched the same day at 4:56 p.m. to the 1300 block of Ridgefield Drive in reference to recorded video surveillance from a residence, which aided deputies in identifying Gregoire as the subject entering a neighboring residence’s garage.
During the course of this investigation, the homeowner told deputies a skateboard was missing from the garage and unfamiliar items, including a plastic shopping bag filled with food, were found in the sun room.
The skateboard was recovered during the investigation.
Anyone with information about the cases is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822- 1111.
Those who call Crimestoppers do not have to testify and may qualify for a cash reward.
