Muhleisen elected VP of international funeral board

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., — Edward Muhleisen was recently elected vice president of The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, Inc.

He represents the fifth generation of the Muhleisen family in funeral service. Muhleisen presently is the manager of his family firms, L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home in Kenner, Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace and Magnolia Crematory in Kenner.

Muhleisen was elected at the Boards’ 112th Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach in Newport Beach, Calif.

Muhleisen previously filled out his predecessor’s term as vice president in accordance with The Conference By-laws. He was elected Secretary/Treasurer of The Conference in 2015. Muhleisen was elected District 7 Director in 2014. He represents funeral service regulators from Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Muhleisen graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans in 1995, received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University in 2000 and graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 2002.

While attending Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, he was employed by Restland Funeral Home in Dallas and Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. Muhleisen became licensed as an embalmer/funeral director by the State of Louisiana in 2003 and as a licensed Crematory Retort Operator in 2012.

He has served on the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors since 2013 and the Conference Board since 2014. Founded in 1904, the membership of The Conference is composed of funeral service licensing and regulatory agencies throughout the U.S. and Canada.
