RESERVE — A 44-year-old man from Reserve was found dead in a ditch this morning.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 3200 block of West Airline Highway in Reserve at 7:51 a.m. Friday when a passerby reported an unresponsive subject in the ditch.

Emergency medical services requested the coroner, who pronounced the subject dead on the scene.

The cause of death is unknown, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.

An autopsy is scheduled. Deputies identified the subject as a 44-year-old man from Reserve. Police did not release a name.
