LAPLACE — A group of men, one armed, robbed a 22-year-old of his hover board in broad daylight last week, authorities said.
St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said the male victim told deputies he was riding his hover board at 12:18 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Palmetto Drive in LaPlace when a white GMC sports utility vehicle occupied by four men pulled up and stopped, two exiting the SUV.
The victim said one subject was clutching what looked to be a handgun concealed in the front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt and the other subject took the hover board.
Both perpetrators ran back to the vehicle, which fled the area. No one was injured.
Tregre said investigators identified the vehicle and located it later Saturday at a residence in the 100 block of Buster Drive in Garyville.
“Detectives identified the driver of the vehicle as Aaron Duhe, 21, of Garyville, arrested him and booked him with principal to armed robbery with a firearm,” Tregre said. “He was released from custody on a $50,000 bond (Monday).”
Authorities said the vehicle belonged to Duhe’s grandmother and the crime was “opportunity-based.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
