Airing Sunday on Food Network, it was LaPlace native Clement’s jacked-up shrimp and grits dish that won her the cash and top title on the eight-week “All-Star Academy.”

Celebrity chef Robert Irvine was Clement’s weekly guide. Clement first shot to national recognition in May during season six of Fox’s MasterChef. She starred as a contestant on the cooking competition show, which featured 40 home cooks.

In that show 10 months ago, she was ultimately not one of the 22 cooks chosen to continue. This week she was the champion.
