Dennis Jene Loper, 40, of LaPlace passed away Easter morning, March 27, 2016.

Visitation will be at Wright & Calvey Funeral Home Chapel, 304 S. Cherry St in Hammond from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 1 and from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2.

Loper loved fishing, LSU, the New Orleans Saints, NASCAR and No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.

He was the beloved son of Shirley Loper Schexnayder and step-father Randy Schexnayder.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, brothers Bryian (Betsy) Loper, Brandon Higdon, Dylan Schexnayder and Jon Schexnayder; sister Sonya Schexnayder; children Holden Loper, Madison Loper, Lily Loper and Korie Guarino; and grandmother Jennie Hodges.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Melvin Loper, and uncle Ronnie Loper.
