LAPLACE — The largest attended event for the River Region Chamber of Commerce will soon be here.

Executive director Chassity McComack said attendance to the Chamber’s annual Crawfish Boil has grown over the years, adding the Chamber hosts two fundraisers annually: the boil and golf tournament.

“The Chamber’s Crawfish Boil has been hosted for seven years,” she said. “The largest attended boil took place in 2012 with over 600 in actual attendance.”

The boil takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 21 at the Westbank Bridge Park in Luling.

“Historically, this event has been hosted in various locations around the three River Parishes,” McComack said. “By a survey of members, Westbank Bridge Park seems to be the best venue for parking and cover area, easy access of 1-10 and adequate space to format the event for easy flow with food, registration and dancing for those that aren’t shy.”

Chamber Chairwoman Annette Wray said the Crawfish Boil is a perfect opportunity to network, relax and catch up with great friends while enjoying great food.

“A common request from our small business members is to have the chance to meet and chat with industry and government folks,” she said. “This event is that perfect opportunity for regionalism and unity.”

Event Co-chair Jared Mire encourages everyone in the community, Chamber member or not, to attend.

He said it is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and residents of the River Parishes to meet and interact.

“It’s also a great opportunity to show support for the Chamber, as this is one of our two major fundraising events,” he said. “Come out and enjoy great food, music and networking.”

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to buy tickets by April 16 so organizers can make sure they prepare enough food.

Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the Chamber office, 390 Belle Terre Blvd. in LaPlace, or by contacting a Board or Boil member. For more information, call 985-359-9777.

McComack said 300 tickets had been sold as of Wednesday.

“Folks that purchase a ticket will automatically be entered in the door prize drawing,” she said. “Rather than raffle off one cash prize, the committee wanted to give more people an opportunity to walk away with something. Therefore, they are accepting a variety of door prizes, minimum value of $25, to raffle off throughout the night. An additional raffle will be held, raffling two K2 coolers during the event, as well as a 50/50 raffle.”
