John Rodney Falgoust

John Rodney Falgoust passed away on March 3, 2016.

He was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Vacherie and was a longtime resident of LaPlace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Placide and Adela Kliebert Falgoust; a daughter, Theresa Falgoust and a sister, Kathleen Waddell.

Falgoust is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Oubre Falgoust; a daughter, Melissa Barksdale (Terry) of Talladega, Ala.; and two sons, John (Karen) of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Scott (Tina) of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael Falgoust (Tara) of Mountain View, Calif., Nichole Whaley (Zach) of Austin, Texas, Andy and Evan Barksdale of Talladega, Ala., Mitchell Falgoust of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Cameron Falgoust of Fort Worth, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Eliana Whaley of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Annette Gautreaux and Ina Claire Falgoust both of Vacherie; and numerous other extended family members.

Falgoust was a World War II veteran and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 35 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaPlace.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 7 at First Baptist Church of LaPlace at 11 a.m.

The family will receive guest from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

The Rev. Major Speights and Dr. Paul Naylor will be officiating.
