RESERVE — Schools in the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District will remain closed for the rest of the week.

School District leaders announced classes will resume Monday (Feb. 29).

At this time, power remains out at two of the campuses and at homes throughout the parish, a release from the District said.

Two schools are also being used in relief efforts.

“This decision was made to allow for our community to heal, regroup and begin anew on Monday,” Superintendent Kevin George said. “At this point, people are still trying to wrap their heads around what has happened. We would like to give people time to breathe without having to worry every day about whether they have to get their kids to school.”

No schools received damage as a result of Tuesday tornados, School District leaders said.
