LAPLACE — After pulling his estranged wife into his car, driving away and refusing to stop, an area man is behind bars for domestic abuse battery and simple kidnapping, authorities said.
St. John the Baptist Parish Deputies first responded to the intersection of West Airline Highway and Hemlock Street in LaPlace at 8:24 p.m. Feb. 14 after getting a disturbance call. Deputies found a 33-year-old female victim at the scene who told authorities she met with her estranged husband, Detriel Sentimore, who she is in the process of getting a divorce. The victim said she met Sentimore, 30, of Norco in a parking lot in the 500 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace to exchange clothing for their child. At some point Sentimore gabbed the victim and pulled her into his car, police said.
As he drove off, the victim told deputies Sentimore, 30, refused to let her out. The victim proceeded to scream for help to passing motorists, who called 911. Sentimore eventually released the victim near the intersection of West Airline Highway and Hemlock. Sentimore fled the scene before authorities arrived and the victim was not injured.
Capt. Pat Yoes with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said Sentimore was arrested Feb. 15 at his residence in Norco on a warrant from St. John.
Sentimore was transferred to St. John, according to Sgt. Dane Clement and booked Feb. 17 under a $30,000 bond.
While the victim was supposed to meet Sentimore to exchange clothing for their child, Clement said the child was not present at the time of reported altercation.
